The Michigan Corrections Officer Dignity Initiative

The Telly AwardThe MI Corrections Organization hired Future Media Corporation to produce a video to address a common problem – prisoners assaulting corrections staff with fecal matter / urine mixtures, and deviant sexual conduct.  Joined by the MI Dept. of Corrections, the MI State Police and the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of MI, the Officer Dignity Initiative video was instrumental in passage of legislation that promises prosecution of these assaults with guaranteed added time to existing sentences.

Shortly after the law took effect, successful prosecutions followed.  Judges of another kind also took note, awarding the ODI program, a Telly Award from over 12,000 entries from all 50 states and five continents.  Of the “Non-Broadcast Productions / Social Issues” category winner, Chief of Staff/Executive Vice President for MCO Andy Potter wrote:  “Thank you for all of your hard work on the Officer Dignity Initiative.  The video was a huge success and you deserve many Telly awards for it!”
